The Food at Clonabreany House*
"The food you eat when you select Clonabreany House for your event will be different and there are very good reasons for this. Apart from being cooked by our in-house Euro-toques chef Gerard Meade and the integral part you the customer are invited to play in deciding what and how it is done as well as tasting it in advance, the reason our food is different is that the quality of ingredients is simply the best available, from local suppliers.
We go out of our way to source what is grown and produced in the area so that freshness and quality is top of our criteria so that what ends up on your plate will be the most rewarding culinary experience for your guests. By sourcing directly from quality suppliers means that price is also kept to the best possible value with one transaction and transit involved so that the price you pay is the best possible value too.
Suppliers include producer/butchers like Jim Ryan who provides our beef and lamb only a few miles away in the neighbouring village of Ballinlough. He will even select the animals a couple of months in advance so that the Irish beef or lamb on your menu is aged to perfection and cooked exactly to your liking each time.
Our excellent free range Irish chicken comes from The Coothill Poultry co-operative just over the county border in neighbouring Cavan with our nearest producer farm just 7 miles from Clonabreany.
Terry Butterly catches his own fish in Anagassin at the nearest port over in Louth, he knows what is available each week of the year and when it comes to the seafood business he is the foremost authority and has been recognised for such. The choice of fish is really made by nature itself and what she provides when the boats come in. One thing is assured it is always fresh and superb. His own crab, prawns, lobsters and smoked salmon too are used by the leading hotels and restaurants in Dublin.
Lil Coyne lives just two miles away from us in Kilskyre and grows fresh herbs and salads in her garden, with your event date known so far in advance she actually grows our produce to order for you.
For wedding cakes there is simply nobody in Ireland producing a higher standard of product than fellow Euro-toque chef Georg Heise in Slane.
If you are staying over for your event you will not enjoy a better start to your following day than with a Hugh Maguire Irish Breakfast using quite simply Meath’s highest quality and Ireland’s national and international gold medal award winning puddings, sausages and bacon from the current president himself of the Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland. So with this quality of ingredients at hand the standard of food very much speaks for itself.
All this then is why the food is indeed special at Clonabreany House."
