Hilton Park

Once described as a “capsule of social history” in honour of their collection of family portraits and memorabilia going back 250 years or more, Johnny and Lucy Madden’s wonderful 18th century mansion is approached by a mile-long driveway and set in 500 acres of woodland, lakes and pastures. With lakes, Pleasure Grounds and a Lovers’ Walk to set the right tone, Hilton Park is as romantic as anyone could wish for, and it is available as an exclusive venue for weddings.

Blessings at the house are not possible, but there are local churches for all denominations for the wedding ceremony and the Maddens can supply information on them if required. The extensive grounds include Lucy’s organic vegetable gardens, that supply the house - and formal gardens that have recently been restored to their former glory and offer delightful photo opportunities.

The house must be booked for at least two days, taking all six bedrooms - this will be a rare treat for those lucky enough to stay here, as four-posters and all the unselfconscious comforts that make for a very special country house stay are part of the charm, and this is a lovely area for guests staying on afterwards to explore.

This wedding venues got no set packages for weddings at Hilton Park: the cost of venue hire depends on numbers, the length of time a marquee is present (if relevant), and for how many nights accommodation is booked; everything can be negotiated - red carpet, welcome drinks, etc - and, for larger weddings, everything is hired to suit individual requirements, allowing you to create a very special one-off event.

Children and evening guests are welcome in the marquee by arrangement, but not in the house.
