Inch House Country House

John and Norah Egan, who farm the surrounding 250 acres, took over this magnificent 1720 house in a state of dereliction in 1985 and then restored it to the handsome, comfortably furnished period house, with the correct Georgian decor, which guests enjoy today.

This wedding venues not a place where you would expect an elaborate wedding planning service, but almost anything can be arranged with advance notice, including extras like a horse drawn carriage or limousine for the bride and groom, and a piper or other special welcome.

Local churches include a recently renovated Catholic Church in the countryside only about a mile away, and wedding blessings can be held at Inch House (but only at the request of the local church).

Guests are welcomed with complimentary tea or coffee and scones on arrival to reception rooms on either side of the hallway, which include an unusual William Morris-style drawing room with a tall stained glass window, a magnificent plasterwork ceiling (and adjoining library bar).

The reception is held in the restaurant - a handsome dining room with polished wood floors, classic country house decor and tables laid with crisp white linen and fresh flowers, which can be very romantic, especially in the evening when the atmosphere is softened by firelight and candles.

A 5 course wedding menu includes a choice of three starters and three main courses, and there is only a supplement if fillet steak or certain speciality foods are selected by the bride and groom; this is good value, especially as the venue charge is included in the menu price.

The five guest rooms are quite individual, and furnished with antiques.
